"Scalae" - filigree steel sculpture with concrete base: the geometry of nature.

A fine grid of lines runs through a narrow frame of steel; the lines run in all directions, without any discernible grid, visually dividing the frame and at the same time combining before the viewer's eye to form ever new geometric figures: that is "Scalae". Although the artistic steel sculpture has no curves - the entire construction consists only of lines, corners and edges - "Scalae" has something organic in its overall effect. The thought of the branching branches of a tree, framed by the view out of a window or perhaps through a camera lens, is obvious. Wasn't there a movement in the branches just at the moment before we press the shutter to preserve the moment? Perhaps the dreamiest of our decorative sculptures, but certainly the most delicate, "Scalae" with its delicate-looking steel struts, which is once again literally "grounded" by a robust concrete base, fits into both a modern and a more classical living ambience.

The outward delicacy can easily make you forget that this sculpture is also made of solid hardened industrial steel. Whether in the untreated version with its dark grey metal surface, which visibly still bears the traces of the artist's tools that were used in its creation, or completely even, refined with a finish of gold-coloured lacquer, which seemingly transforms "Scalae" into a bronze sculpture: Each version has its own special charm, which unfolds in connection with the chosen place of installation. To show off the filigree forms to their best advantage, it is advisable to place the steel sculpture in a visually calm environment, e.g. in front of a white wall or other monochrome background. You can also use the effect of harmonising or contrasting colours!

The 15 x 15 cm concrete cube, which serves as a base for "Scalae", can also be part of the staging: its robust appearance with the raw concrete surface forms an exciting contrast to the delicate metal struts with their natural look and sets its own colour accents in its two versions in traditional concrete grey or elegant almost black slate grey.

Sculpture and base are individually handcrafted in our CO33 workshop, each piece being unique in its own right. With a width of 25 cm and a height of approx. 64 or 48 cm, "Scalae" is also available in two sizes and can be set up as a pair or individually.

With this type of production, colour differences and small pore openings - even compared to the images in the shop or catalogue - are part of the usual nature of the material. Shading can also occur with concrete products. These can be caused, among other things, by influences such as temperature differences, air humidity and concrete-technological after-treatments or by impregnation. Such material properties are part of the usual or agreed properties of the products and do not constitute defects. **
